Near Peer Career Panel Series
This seven-part webinar series introduces middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in marine technology and science fields.
These panels give students the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of individuals who are currently studying, exploring, and working in fields related to the following Career and Technical Education programs: Aquaculture, Marine Biology Research, Marine Systems Technology, Marine Policy & Environmental Advocacy, Ocean Engineering, Professional Diving, and Vessel Operations.

Marine Biology
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in the marine technology and science fields. Panelists had experience with research in phytoplankton, elasmobranch ecology, and ichthyology.
Vessel Operations
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in vessel operations. Panelists had with experience ranging from Military Sealift Command to Maritime Education to Historic Tall Ships and more!
Marine Policy & Environmental Advocacy
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in environmental law and policy, and the citizen policy-making process.
Professional Diving
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in the diving industry. Panelists had experience with underwater photography and archeology, commercial diving and more!
Aquaculture
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in Aquaculture — a growing industry in response to habitat loss, overfishing, and an increasing human population. Panelists had experience with water chemistry, marine biology, environmental science, and animal husbandry.
Marine Systems Technology
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in Marine Systems Technology. Panelists had experience working in engineering, mechanics, electrical, fabrication, welding and more!
Ocean Engineering
This virtual panel introduced middle and high school students to Urban Assembly New York Harbor School alumni and industry professionals in Ocean Engineering. Panelists had experience working with environmental monitoring devices, renewable energy, and more.
