What Students Do
Across this multi-lesson sequence, students learn about the New York Aquarium and build background knowledge about oysters in the classroom. At the Aquarium, they complete a scavenger hunt connecting to oysters across exhibits—including a visit to the Billion Oyster Project display. Back in the classroom, they reflect on their field trip experience.
Pacing & Logistics
Pacing: 3–4 class periods including 1 field trip to the New York Aquarium.
Logistics: Plan and book the Aquarium visit at least 6 weeks ahead. Confirm chaperones and student transportation. Print the Scavenger Hunt and Reflection Prompts handouts before the trip. Budget for admission (NY Aquarium admission + transportation).
