Event Details

Community Water Quality Testing (CWQT) is New York City's community science program for measuring enterococcus — the bacteria that signals sewage in our waterways. Every week from May to October, volunteer samplers collect water at sites across the harbor and partner labs process the results.

This series holds the events that bring the CWQT community together each year:

  • Annual Sampler Training — best practices under our quality assurance plan, plus supply pickup.
  • Season Kickoff — a celebration to open the sampling season.
  • Mid-Season Field Trip — a look at the infrastructure behind the results.
  • End of Season Celebration — the season's data review and the Golden Toilet Awards.
