Each year, a group of dedicated Richmond County Yacht Club (RCYC) members collaborate with Billion Oyster Project on the delivery of programming to local school groups. Funding from the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery has allowed us to expand on RCYC’s efforts by building an oyster nursery at the marina. Nurseries provide protection from sedimentation, displacement of new oysters by strong tidal currents, and boat wakes.

This oyster nursery is located in the Richmond County Yacht Club. There are a few exciting things at this site, (1) the views, (2) Richmond County Yacht Club supports our work and opens its doors to school groups to monitor oysters off their floating docks, (3) the oysters get really big, and (4) during each visit, we find at least one large American eel or oyster toadfish in our oyster nursery.
