Training That Translates to the Classroom

Our professional learning programs are designed by educators, for educators. Each workshop blends hands-on field experience with practical curriculum tools you can use the next day. Whether you're learning to maintain an Oyster Research Tank, lead outdoor investigations, or integrate harbor data into your lessons, every session is built around real classroom application.

Workshops are led by BOP education staff with deep experience in urban environmental education. You'll leave with lesson plans, data sets, monitoring protocols, and connections to a growing network of teachers across NYC who share your commitment to bringing real science into schools.

Where Learning Happens

Many of our workshops take place at Governors Island, at waterfront sites across NYC, or at partner schools — putting you in the same environments where your students will learn. In-person sessions include hands-on practice with oyster monitoring equipment, water quality testing kits, and field journaling techniques.

Virtual options cover topics like curriculum integration, data analysis, and connecting classroom lessons to harbor ecology. All formats offer CTLE credits.
